    War Artist was winner of the featured Group Three Al Shindagha Sprint on the fourth night of the 2010 Dubai International Racing Carnival, generously sponsored by Gulf News. The 1200m feature looked competitive but once Olivier Peslier kicked his mount, trained by James Eustace clear just inside the straight, he was never going to be caught.

    Eustace said: "We thought he would need the run but is a very talented and versatile sprinter. We will probably revert to the turf with him now."

    Racing returns to Jebel Ali on Friday for a six race card highlighted by a 1600m handicap sponsored by the Shadwell organisation of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. A competitive race has attracted the maximum field of 16 with Ryan Moore taking the ride on Satish Seemar's Ibn Al Nafis who is bidding to remain unbeaten having won both his first two starts.

    The third meeting of the 2010 Dubai International Racing Carnival at Meydan, kindly sponsored by Al Tayer Motors, was highlighted by the Group Three Cape Verdi Stakes, a 1600m turf contest for fillies and mares. It was won by Soneva for trainer Marco Botti with Christophe Soumillon doing the steering.

    The jockey said: "She is a nice filly who I used to ride in France. That was a nice performance."

    The Godolphin trio were headed by Alexandros who won the 1800m Group Three Al Rashidiya, the first turf race on the world's most modern racecourse, under a delighted Frankie Dettori.
