Mickael Barzalona, Jockey, HYPOTHETICAL (1st): “I was very impressed with this horse tonight, we were not sure if he would handle the dirt very well. But he has improved a lot since his first time on dirt. He was very relaxed before the race, and he travelled very smoothly."

“He was a very big prospect in Europe after his first run, he has been disappointing after that, but it looks like the conditions in the UAE have helped him. We are glad with the race he ran tonight and hopefully he will be able to perform forward and move towards the big day.”

Andrea Atzeni, Jockey, EQUILATERAL (1ST): “I think this was a very good performance, the field was quite small, and he jumped really well. He was traveling easily and I didn’t want to stop his momentum, so I just went with him, he got to the front early enough and he kept going right until the line."

“He obviously really enjoyed it and loves it out there and he is really doing well for Charlie Hills and Mrs Hay.”

CURLIN STAKES (LISTED HANDICAP)
$88,000 | 2000m (dirt) | TB

Fernando Jara, Jockey, NEW TRAILS (1st): “It was a first run of the season, and you can never be sure of a first run, but I am not surprised at his performance. He is a nice horse, and when he gets it right, he has class and is right up there with all these horses. I am not sure of what the future plans are for this horse, that is up to the boss, but whatever plans they have we will be ready to go.”

UAE OAKS (GROUP 3)
$125,000 | 1900m (dirt) | TB
Winner: MNASEK (USA)
Pedigree: Empire Maker (USA) - Washington Bridge (USA) by Yankee Gentleman (USA)
Owner: Al Rashid Stables LLC
Trainer: D Watson
Jockey: Patrick Dobbs
Official Time: 1:59.18
Track Record: 01:55:18 - MENDELSSOHN - 2018
Stakes Record (Meydan dirt): 1:58:35 - DOWN ON DA BAYOU - 2020
Margin of Victory: 6 1/2 Lengths

Pat Dobbs, Jockey, MNASEK(1st): “She came out and landed a bit flat footed and she did not have the early speed as the rest of the horses. She was not enjoying the kickback on the inside, so I switched her out down the back, and once she got out of the kickback she travelled smoothly all the way. Frankie was on the inside and was not doing as well as me, and I could see Mickael was a few lengths ahead and he was doing ok, But my filly just stayed well."

“Mnasek is not as quick as Polar River, but she is tough like her.”

Doug Watson, Trainer, MNASEK (1st): “I don’t know if this performance will get her an invite to the UAE Derby, a lot of times it does, if that is the case we will have to see if the owners want to run there. If not she needs to go to America, she is just learning her craft now, and I love the way she broke tonight.

She wasn’t over keen with the kickback, but once she was out of it she travelled well and won nicely.”

ZABEEL MILE (GROUP 2)
$163,000 | 1600m (turf) | TB

Stakes Record (Meydan turf): 1:35:19 - CHAMPIONSHIP - 2017
Margin of Victory: Head Length

William Buick, Jockey, D’BAI (1st): “He is a lovely horse, he needs things to fall right for him. I think he did well there, to come off a slow pace, he had a lot of ground to make up and he did it. On his day he is a pretty decent horse. His last run in the Al Fahidi Fort was a good one and he has come forward from that".

BALANCHINE (GROUP 2)
$ 163,000 | 1800m (turf) | TB
Winner: SUMMER ROMANCE (IRE)
Pedigree: Kingman (GB) - Serena's Storm (IRE) by Statue Of Liberty (USA)
Owner: Godolphin
Trainer: C Appleby
Jockey: James Doyle
Official Time: 1:48.47
Track Record: 01:45:52 - JUST A WAY - 2020
Stakes Record (Meydan turf): 1:47:65 - MAGIC LILY - 2020
Margin of Victory: 2 1/4 Lengths

James Doyle, Jockey, SUMMER ROMANCE (1st): “It is easy to forgive her that first outing, she was a bit fresh, and you could tell even today she was quite racy and enthusiastic about her job. That first run would have settled her down a bit. Charlie and team decided to tinker a bit with a few different things, in regard to the prelims, we decided to mount her up at the pre-parade ring and headed out after all the runners, which certainly helped a bit, and Charlie decided to leave the hood on for the race which also helped."

"I was gifted quite a nice lead, and I was pretty pleased after a couple of furlongs, and even afforded the luxury of racing away from the rail just to help her to switch off. While she was always doing a bit, I wasn’t going overly quick fractions, so I was pretty pleased when we got into the straight. I was pretty hopeful she would hit the line well and she stuck to her guns.”

Charlie Appleby, Trainer, SUMMER ROMANCE(1st): “This evening we changed the dynamics for her and kept the hood on, and James got her into a nice rhythm, and she was in a far better rhythm than she was in the Cape Verdi. I am in the fortunate position to have William (Buick) and James (Doyle) there who come and ride out and know the horses inside out, which makes such a difference on race night on what they need to try and do, and tonight it has gone right for James and Summer Romance."

AL SHINDAGHA SPRINT (GROUP 3)
$130,000 | 1200m (dirt) | TB
Winner: AL TARIQ (FR)
Pedigree: Oasis Dream (GB) - El Cuerpo E L'alma (USA) by Harlan's Holiday (USA)
Owner: Abdul Mohsen Al Abdul Kareem
Trainer: D Watson
Jockey: Patrick Dobbs
Official Time: 1:10:56 (New Stakes Record)
Track Record: 01:10:12 - MIND YOUR BISCUITS - 2018
Stakes Record (Meydan dirt): 1:10:88 - RICH TAPESTRY - 2016
Margin of Victory: 1/2 Length

Pat Dobbs, Jockey, AL TARIQ (1st): “My lad has got a good head on his shoulders, he was very relaxed, he came out of the gates brilliantly, and went on a proper gallop, and I was happy to sit off Richie and Mickael. I thought I was in front sooner than it appeared on TV, I got that wrong. He is tough and I am happy for the owner, who has been very loyal to us.”

Doug Watson, Trainer, Al TARIQ (1st): “Al Tariq did very well there, he broke a lot better than he did the first time, and he is running on some confidence now. I am very hopeful we can get him an invite for the Golden Shaheen on World Cup day. This was a good option for him after he won well at Jebel Ali a couple of weeks ago. So hopefully they invite him and he gets four or five weeks to prepare for the big day.”
