Career Profile
Born in Dallas, Texas, on August 29 1957, Jerry Bailey began riding at Sunland Park in Mexico, near El Pas, Texas, in November 1974. Jerry Bailey has won most of the major races in America, and at Arlington Park in 2002 he broke Pat Day's record for the most number of Breeders' Cup victories, Orientate's victory in the Breeders' Cup Sprint giving him his 13th success. He has also won the Kentucky Derby twice (Grindstone [1996] and Sea Hero [1993]), the Preakness twice (Hansel [1991] and Red Bullet [2000]) and the Belmont Stakes (Hansel [1991]).
