Trainer Mr A Smith was fined AED 250 under ERA 50 (iv) for the incorrect colours on PAINTED ROOM (USA). SPEEDFIT TOO (IRE) (C Gannon) stood in the stalls when the gates opened and trailed the field. Trainer Mr M Al Kurdi was advised that SPEEDFIT TOO (IRE) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a Stalls' Test before being permitted to race. FLASH FLOOD (USA) (M Hussey) was slow into stride. ALAFZAR (IRE) (R Mullen) raced wide turning into the straight. Jockey A Whelan (FRODO (GB)) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) for making a manoeuvre which caused NIGHT SYTLE (FR) (H Keohane) to bump PAINTED ROOM (USA) (T Naughton), causing both riders to stop riding. PAINTED ROOM (USA) then bumped MUMARI (USA) (R Hills) causing that horse to check. Jockey A Whelan was suspended from riding in races for one day (13 February 2003 at Nad Al Sheba) and fined AED 750. Trainer Mr A Selvaratnam reported that NIGHT STYLE (FR) (H Keohane) pulled up lame in its near fore. A post race veterinary inspection revealed FRANCAL (FR) (R Moore) had bled from its near side nostril.
