Prior to the start OCEAN SONG (USA) reared and became cast. The colt was subsequently withdrawn at 4.30pm. Trainer Mr A Al Rahie was advised that OCEAN SONG (USA) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a Stalls' Test before being permitted to enter to race. When questioned regarding the improved form of QUICKNAP (USA) (G Birrer) trainer Mr D Watson stated that the gelding did not appear to handle turning courses. Its previous best performance had been a 1400m straight at Jebel Ali. HAZELHATCH (GB) (T Durcan) returned having struck itself on the back of the off fore.

SURBITON (USA) (S Chin) raced wide throughout. At the 200m jockey D Hayse (SUZUKA [USA]) dropped his whip. Stewards enquired into jockey T O'Shea riding of PACINO (GB) over the concluding stages. Jockey T O'Shea was found guilty to a charge under ERA 69 (iii) for failing to ride PACINO (GB) (fifth) out to the end of the race. After taking into consideration the specific merits of this case jockey T O'Shea was fined the sum of AED 500.General Report Following the running of Race 4 Stewards requested a copy of the official photo finish. A delay was experienced in producing the official photo and Stewards believed the quality of reproduction to be poor. As such the Clerk of the Course Mr K Selvaratnam was requested to install a new printer for the photo finish prior to the next race meeting.
