Jockey K McEvoy was questioned regarding the performance of THREE GRACES (GER). He stated that the gelding did not have the pace to lead, however after racing prominently had lost his action shortly after straightening, hence he had eased the gelding down. A subsequent veterinary inspection of THREE GRACES (GER) revealed no abnormalities. Jockey M Khan (SAFE STRUCTURE [SAF]) was reminded of the provisions of Instruction 8 (ii) (d) for using his whip after the winning post. Jockey M Hussey (SLIP DANCE [IRE]) was cautioned with regards to using his whip in a manner which bordered on excessive.

STETCHWORTH PRINCE (GB) (L Dettori) stumbled on jumping. ALEUTIAN (GB) (W Supple) and EGYPTIAN (USA) (P Dillon) were slow to begin. Passing the 1100m ALEUTIAN (GB) commenced to over race and made contact with SEA HUNTER (GB) (K McEvoy). Approaching the 1000m NORTHERN ROCK (JPN) (T Durcan) was crowded slightly by HAPPY PEARL (AUS) (M Kinane) and this caused KANDIDATE (GB) (E Ahern) to be steadied. At the same stage MAGNUM FORCE (NZ) (B Vorster) restrained when crowded inside the heels of SECRET PLACE (GB) (S Heffernan). Shortly after this SEA HUNTER (GB) had to be steadied from the heels of GYPSY JOHNNY (GB) (R Mullen). At the 400m GYPSY JOHNNY (GB) and STETCHWORTH PRINCE (GB) came together heavily with GYPSY JOHNNY (GB) losing considerable ground. MAGNUM FORCE (NZ) which was following checked severely from the heels of GYPSY JOHNNY (GB). Jockey R Mullen explained that GYPSY JOHNNY (GB) had misstrode at this stage and shifted inwards for no apparent reason. A subsequent veterinary inspection of GYPSY JOHNNY (GB) revealed a cut to its off hind heel.

Stewards' Reports for Storming Home Trophy
Prior to the riders being mounted it was ascertained that several light stands were not fully operative. Rectification of this problem necessitated a delay of some eight minutes. This race was run with approximately 70% lighting, from auxiliary power, between the 1200m and the 600m on the course proper. DAMACHIDA (IRE) (W Marwing) proved difficult to load. Trainer Ms E Sundbye was advised that DAMACHIDA (IRE) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a satisfactory stalls test before being permitted to enter to race. MANDOBI (IRE) (J Murtagh) commenced awkwardly. PARNASSUS (SAF) (R Mullen) rolled out passing the 350m, MANDOBI (IRE) was then disappointed for a run on the outside of that gelding and when taken to the inside brushed SUBPOENA (GB) (L Dettori) causing that colt to shift ground and bump with MERCURY CHIEF (SAF) (M Khan). On enquiry Jockey L Dettori explained that SUBPOENA (GB) was racing erratically and had compounded this incident. After considering this evidence stewards reprimanded Jockey J Murtagh for shifting ground when insufficiently clear of other riders. General Report Race 1. Trainer Dr J Bittar was fined AED 250 for failing to declare the tongue tie on RAGGASS (FR) (J Panas) Adjourned Inquiry from Abu Dhabi 29th January 2006, Race 5 Stewards inquired into the reasons for jockey G Hind being dislodged from DARISTOS (FR) at about the 250m. Jockey R Smith rider of BOLET DE GHAZAL (FR) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69 (i) for allowing BOLET DE GHAZAL (FR) to shift inwards with DARISTOS (FR) clipping its heels and falling. Jockey R. Smith was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 3 days (Abu Dhabi on 19 February, Nad Al Sheba on 23 & 24 February) and was fined AED 500.
