KERBEL LOTOIS (FR) (W Supple) was slow into stride and approaching the 1600m was taken to the inside of CHARH (GB) (M Dwyer) to obtain clear running and in doing so was crowded for room, having to be steadied and lose its position. Passing the 500m AL SABEQ (FR) (R Mullen) was taken outwards to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped HASNA DE FAUST (FR) (R Moore). Jockey R Mullen (AL SABEQ [FR]) was advised that he must ensure that there is sufficient room when shifting ground in future. SANTHAL (FR) (T O'Shea) raced wide throughout.

Jockey A Nicholls reported that TAX FREE (IRE) hung outwards in running which had affected his ability to ride the gelding out in the straight. When questioned regarding the performance of THOR'S ECHO (USA), Jockey R Mullen stated that the gelding had traveled well in running and when put under pressure over the final 400m had failed to respond to the level he had expected. TERRIFIC CHALLENEGE (USA) (R Moore) returned with a cut to its mouth. Jockey K McEvoy reported that that HEART ALONE (BRZ) felt uncomfortable in its action when put under pressure in the straight. FORMAL DECREE (GER) (M Kinane) shifted in at the start and made contact with STAGE GIFT (IRE) (K McEvoy). Approaching the 1500m GREAT RHYTHM (SAF) (K Shea) commenced to over race, LORD ADMIRAL (USA) (W Supple) which was following was forced to steady. Shortly after this SANAYA (IRE) (C Soumillon) was held tight for room between ACE (IRE) (R Moore) on its outside and LORD ADMIRAL (USA) (W Supple) on its inside and was buffeted between those runners for a short distance. Passing the 1300m, GREAT RHYTHM (SAF) which had continued to over race, shifted outwards and bumped SHAKIS (IRE) (R Hills) on several occasions. ACE (IRE) raced wide throughout. Passing the 300m BEST NAME (GB) (L Dettori) which was held up for clear running shifted outwards bumping LORD ADMIRAL (USA) which then bumped TOUCH OF LAND (FR) (C Lemaire) on its outside, LORD ADMIRAL (USA) then shifted inwards making contact with BEST NAME (GB). Approaching the 150m FORMAL DECREE (GER) lay inwards and impeded IRRIDESCENCE (SAF) (W Marwing). When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ACE (IRE), Jockey R Moore stated that the horse had over raced in the early stages and had then been forced to race wide for the remainder of the race. A post race veterinary examination of ACE (IRE) revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of SANAYA (IRE), Jockey C Soumillon stated that he had been unable to settle the filly in the early stages as she had been held tight for running room. He further stated that when put under pressure in the straight, SANAYA (IRE) had changed her action on a number of occasions and had failed to quicken as he well as would have expected. A post race veterinary examination revealed SANAYA (IRE) had returned with a cut to its right hind.
