AS ULFAT (AE) (R Cleary) veered inwards shortly after the start and inconvenienced HAYAJAAN (GB) (R Hills). RAFED (AE) (D Badel) veered outwards on jumping causing KHAIZARANA (GB) (R Mullen) to be steadied and lose ground. DJARAK DE LEYRE (FR) (T Durcan) commenced awkwardly and then raced extremely ungenerously in the early middle stages and then commenced to hang outwards from the 900m until the turn into the straight. When questioned regarding his ride on DJARAK DE LEYRE (FR), Jockey T Durcan explained that after commencing well, the colt had then commenced to over race to such an extent that he had great difficulty in settling DJARAK DE LEYRE (FR). He further stated that the colt then commenced to hang out badly passing the 1000m which had ultimately contributed to the disappointing performance. Trainer Dr J Bittar advised that he would alter the colt's racing gear in an attempt to improve its' racing manner. A post race veterinary examination of DJARAK DE LEYRE (FR) revealed no abnormalities.
