ART OF WAR (SAF) (K Shea) stumbled badly on jumping and shifted inwards onto TASTEYVILLE (USA) (R Hills) which had also stumbled. TASTEYVILLE (USA) then made contact to the hind quarters of FATEH FIELD (USA) (T Durcan) and had to be restrained. ART OF WAR (SAF) had a tendency to hang outwards in the early and middle stages. Near the 400m, FIRESTREAK (GB) (A Ajtebi) was crowded for room between FARES (IRE) (D O’Donohoe) which was laying inwards and ART OF WAR (SAF) which shifted outwards. TASTEYVILLE (USA) returned with a cut to its left fore and to its right hind pastern.

CONQUEST (IRE) (A Ajtebi) dipped on jumping. KEEP DISCOVERING (IRE) (T O’Shea) was crowded for room on jumping and then raced keenly in the early and middle stages. BRAVE TIN SOLDIER (USA) (K Shea) raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m, EKHTIAAR (GB) (F Jara) which had been hanging outwards shifted out and had to be steadied from the heels of BRAVE TIN SOLDIER (USA). RAGHEED (USA) (R Hills) was held up for a clear run from the 400m until the 200m. MOJITO ROYALE (IRE) (M Kinane) had difficulty in obtaining a clear run from the 350m until near the 100m. Passing the 250m, YAMAL (IRE) (T Durcan) shifted outwards to obtain a clear run causing MONTPELLIER (IRE) (R Ffrench) to be momentarily steadied. On enquiry, Jockey T Durcan (YAMAL [IRE]) was advised he must ensure there is sufficient room when shifting ground in future. ARTIMINO (GB) (D O’Donohoe) was unable to obtain clear running over the final 200m of the race. Jockey R Mullen reported that POINTING NORTH (SAF) may benefit from the run having not started for over a year. Jockey E Ahern reported that GOLDEN RIVIERA (SAF) hung badly throughout. A post race veterinary examination of CONQUEST (IRE) revealed no abnormalities.

SOUND THE DRUM (USA) (R Mullen) commenced awkwardly. WINGBEAT (USA) (T Durcan) and MALAYEEN (AUS) (T O’Shea) bumped at the start. Shortly after the start, LEAGUE CHAMPION (USA) (K John) drifted outwards away from NEW FREEDOM (BRZ) (W Smith), at the same time, BOUNTY QUEST (GB) (F Jara) had shifted inwards slightly crowding CHARLES ISLAND (SAF) (R Moore) onto SOUND THE DRUM (USA) (R Mullen) which then had to be restrained off the hind quarters of LEAGUE CHAMPION (USA). When questioned regarding the performance of WINGBEAT (USA), Jockey T Durcan was of the opinion that the colt had resented the kick back in running and may appreciate racing over a longer distance.

IGOR PROTTI (GB) (W Supple) shifted inwards on jumping and bumped with TRUST N DUSTAN (USA) (D O’Donohoe). BENNIE BLUE (SAF) (K Shea) and CLASP (GB) (T Durcan) both raced wide in the early stages. Near the 500m, CLASP (GB) rolled inwards slightly making contact with IGOR PROTTI (GB), at the same time DYNAMIC SAINT (USA) (R Moore) shifted outwards to obtain clear running, and took EMIRATES LINE (USA) out marginally which resulted in that gelding being crowded for room. Jockey R Moore (DYNAMIC SAINT [USA]) was advised to ensure that he has clear running when shifting ground in future.
