RIGHT TO DREAM (IRE) (K Fallon) began awkwardly and bumped FACTORY TIME (IRE) (S De Sousa). Approaching the 250m, FACTORY TIME (IRE) was carried inwards by RIGHT TO DREAM (IRE), obliging COLORFUL NOTION (IRE) (M Demuro) to alter course. RIGHT TO DREAM (IRE) continued to shift inwards and near the 200m caused FACTORY TIME (IRE) to be momentarily restrained. On enquiry, Jockey K Fallon (RIGHT TO DREAM [IRE]) was warned and advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in future. Also, near the 200m, MOON SPUN (SAF) (R Moore) was momentarily restrained between COLORFUL NOTION (IRE) and COUNTERGLOW (IRE) (L Dettori), which was shifting inwards. On enquiry, Jockey L Dettori (COUNTERGLOW [IRE]) was warned and advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in future. COLORFUL NOTION (IRE) had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages. Jockey L Dettori (COUNTERGLOW [IRE]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond.

HURRICANE HAVOC (IRE) (T O’Shea), YAA WAYL (IRE) (T Durcan) and YASEER (IRE) (R Hills) were slow to begin. JARDIM (BRZ) (K Shea) and ALKIMOS (IRE) (L Dettori) were crowded on jumping between SARRSAR (GB) (M Barzalona) and OTTOMAN EMPIRE (FR) (J Spencer), which jumped outwards. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SARRSAR (GB) was restrained between JOSHUA TREE (IRE) (R Moore), which drifted inwards, and ALKIMOS (IRE), which when racing keenly was eased off the heels of DISA LEADER (SAF) (J Geroudis), which was racing keenly as SIRVINO (GB) (H Bentley) drifted inwards. Passing the 1700m, NATIONALISM (GB) (S De Sousa) was eased when OTTOMAN EMPIRE (FR) rolled inwards. Shortly after making the home bend, BRONZE CANNON (USA) (C Soumillon) and the tiring EMERALD WILDERNESS (IRE) (R Mullen) bumped. Leaving the 150m, OTTOMAN EMPIRE (FR) was crowded and eased between SARRSAR (GB) and SIRVINO (GB), which drifted outwards. When questioned regarding his ride on JOSHUA TREE (IRE) in today’s event, particularly in the home straight, Jockey R Moore advised that after enduring a tough run where the horse was caught wide in the early and middle stages, and then in the early parts of the straight when JOSHUA TREE (IRE) was held up for clear running, he had endeavoured to angle outwards to gain clear running, however he was unable to do so. He further stated that on gaining a run between NATIONALISM (GB) and YAA WAYL (IRE) near the 150m, that horse then commenced to drift inwards, and he elected not to fully test the horse over the concluding 100m. Jockey R Moore’s explanation was noted.
