SHUJA (USA) was a late scratching at 4.30pm after it was reported that the gelding was injured being loaded onto the horse box. Trainer M A bin Huzaim was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required for SHUJA (USA) prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again. After arriving at the starting gates, HAZAZ (IRE) underwent a veterinary examination as its rider Jockey S de Sousa had some concerns with its action. HAZAZ (IRE) was subsequently passed fit to start. TAJAMAL (IRE) (J Doyle) was slow to begin. PRICE IS TRUTH (IRE) (D O’Donohoe) and RAMONTI FLASH (IRE) (W Smith) began awkwardly. CONSTANS (IRE) (P Hanagan) was crowded shortly after jumping between THAT’S PLENTY (IRE) (T O’Shea) and MALTESE CAT (IRE) (D O’Neill). Approaching the 100m, PRICE IS TRUTH (IRE) drifted inwards and bumped BRAVO RAGAZZO (IRE) (R Ffrench). A post-race veterinary examination of RAMONTI FLASH (IRE) revealed no abnormalities. CONSTANS (IRE) returned with blood in its mouth due to an oral injury.

WADI WANDERER (IRE) (H Bentley) began awkwardly. Leaving the 1100m, HACIENDA (IRE) (P Dobbs) lay inwards away from AL RAZI (USA) (M Monaghan), causing ART OF WAR (SAF) (S de Sousa) to be eased. Approaching the 300m, ART OF WAR (SAF) was disappointed for clear running and was obliged to ease and alter course to the outside of HACIENDA (IRE) when that horse drifted inwards momentarily. Jockey D O’Neill (PRINCE SHAUN [IRE]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) in that he used his whip without giving his mount time to respond.

MASAALEK (GB) (D O’Donohoe) and BROUGHTONS DAY (GB) (J Rosales) were slow to begin. EARL OF CARRICK (USA) (P Cosgrave) began awkwardly. Passing the 2100m, BURNETT (IRE) (J Quinn) shifted inwards crowding BROUGHTONS DAY (GB) in towards EARL OF CARRICK (USA), causing BROUGHTONS DAY (GB) to clip heels and blunder. On enquiry, Jockey J Quinn (BURNETT [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for two days (14 and 16 February 2013 at Meydan). Passing the 350m, MARK TO MARKET (IRE) (T O’Shea) was held up for clear running behind EKTIBAAS (GB) (P Hanagan) and angled inwards causing BLUE TIGER’S EYE (IRE) (H Bentley) to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey T O’Shea (MARK TO MARKET [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for two days (14 and 16 February 2013 at Meydan). Stewards' Reports for Longines Conquest
Jockey H Bentley the rider of the 4th placed PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) was unable to weigh in after the race as the saddle on the gelding had shifted backwards significantly, and there was some delay whilst it was determined exactly how the saddle would be removed. Given that the Stewards were satisfied that there were no circumstances which suggested that less than the proper would have been carried by PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) throughout the race, correct weight was declared. LAYALI DUBAI (USA) (M Barzalona) was slow to begin. LORD TIGER (GB) (P Cosgrave) began awkwardly. LORD TIGER (GB) raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1700m, PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) (H Bentley) shifted inwards, carrying SPANISH WEDDING (GB) (J Doyle) inwards, causing it to be eased inwards, crowding and bumping LORD TIGER (GB) inwards onto MAWHUB (GB) (P Dobbs), which bumped BLUE SEA (IRE) (R Ffrench) heavily, causing it to become unbalanced and lose its action. On enquiry, Jockey H Bentley (PROFONDO ROSSO [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for three days (14, 16 and 21 February 2013 at Meydan). Making the bend near the 1400m, LORD TIGER (GB) shifted inwards carrying MAWHUB (GB) inwards, which crowded BLUE SEA (IRE) and KARMA CHAMELEON (GB) (D O’Neill), resulting in BLUE SEA (IRE) having to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey P Cosgrave (LORD TIGER [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for two days (14 and 16 February 2013 at Meydan). Making the home bend, as LAST FIGHTER (IRE) (S de Sousa) angled to the outside of REBEL SONG (IRE) (T Durcan), REBEL SONG (IRE) hung outwards, carrying LAST FIGHTER (IRE) outwards, which bumped LORD TIGER (GB) out onto SPANISH WEDDING (GB), which then shifted outwards crowding LAYALI DUBAI (USA) out onto UKRAINIAN (IRE) (S Al Mazrooei). Approaching the 350m, MAWHUB (GB) shifted inwards and bumped LORD TIGER (GB). Leaving the 350m, UKRAINIAN (IRE) shifted inwards causing LAYALI DUBAI (USA) to be restrained. On enquiry, after taking evidence from both Jockey M Barzalona (LAYALI DUBAI [USA]) and Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (UKRAINIAN [IRE]), the enquiry was adjourned until Trainer Mr A Al Raihe (Master of Apprentice S Al Mazrooei) and Mr Y Mabrouk (ERA Apprentice Co-ordinator) can be present to assist Apprentice S Al Mazrooei.

REDEMPTOR (GB) raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1200m, NOOR ZABEEL (R Ffrench) commenced to race very keenly and was restrained. MON CADEUX (GB) and REDEMPTOR (GB), which were following, were both impeded as a consequence. ALNASHMY (FR) (P Dobbs), GOLD CITY (IRE) (S de Sousa) and SWITZERLAND (IRE) (S Al Mazrooei) were slow to begin. KAISS (USA) (M Monaghan) and ASIFA (IRE) (T Durcan) began awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m, SHABORA (IRE) (J Doyle), which was racing very keenly, shifted inwards crowding INNOCUOUS (GB) (T O’Shea) and ALRAASED (USA) (P Hanagan). Near the 1000m, after continuing to race very keenly, SHABORA (IRE) shifted inwards and eased, and after it had done so, ALRAASED (USA) then commenced to race very keenly and was restrained away from the heels of SHABORA (IRE). ALRAASED (USA) then continued to race keenly for a short distance. On enquiry, the Stewards accepted the evidence of the riders, specifically that of Jockey P Hanagan (ALRAASED [USA]), who stated that his mount has a history of racing very keenly, having ridden him at his two most recent starts in England, and that as this was his first run this campaign, ALRAASED (USA) was very keen and that this had caused this incident. Just prior to making the home bend, near the 450m, CURZON LINE (GB) (R Ffrench) and INNOCUOUS (GB) bumped and raced tight to the inside of DUBAI ICONIC (USA) (K Fallon). Making the home bend and in the early parts of the straight, ALRAASED (USA) was impeded behind the tiring SHABORA (IRE) and to the inside of INNOCUOUS (GB). After making the home bend, near the 300m INNOCUOUS (GB) was restrained when racing to the inside of CURZON LINE (GB). ALRAASED (USA), which was racing to the inside of INNOCUOUS (GB), was impeded further at this stage also. At this stage of the race, racing to the outside of CURZON LINE (GB) was DUBAI ICONIC (USA). As Jockey K Fallon (DUBAI ICONIC [USA]) had already left the course, the enquiry into this matter was adjourned to a later date. ALRAASED (USA) had difficulty obtaining clear running for the remainder of the race and was unable to be fully tested.
