P Hanagan (TANFEETH (GB)) reported that the horse hung right in the straight. Passing the 400 metres PLANTAGENET (SPA) shifted out causing MICKDAAM (IRE) to steady and shift outwards bumping BUSKER (USA). Jockey P Graberg (PLANTAGENET (SPA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for allowing his mount to shift out when not clear. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of SAMURAI SWORD (GB) trainer Mr A bin Harmash explained that at its last run on 20 February 2014 the horse had raced keenly and consequently led to which SAMURAI SWORD (GB) was not suited. Today, the horse had settled well and raced back in the field and in his opinion accounted for the improvement. Mr A bin Harmash advised that SAMURAI SWORD (GB)

ZAIN SHAMARDAL (IRE) commenced awkwardly and threw its head up. Approaching the 1400 metres ZAIN SHAMARDAL (IRE) restrained when REBEL SONG (IRE) shifted inwards. An inquiry was opened into this incident and adjourned until the race meeting at Abu Dhabi on 2 March 2014. Passing the 1400 metres SOLAR DEITY (IRE) when crossing to the rail, steadied off the heels of MUFARRH (IRE) and stumbled. Approaching the 1300 metres DISA LEADER (SAF) steadied from REBEL SONG (IRE) which lay inwards when racing keenly. Near the 200 metres ZAIN SHAMARDAL (IRE) had to be momentarily steadied when held up for clear running. In the straight DISA LEADER (SAF) hung left. A post-race veterinary examination of REBEL SONG (IRE) revealed the horse to be lame in the right fore leg. Mr A bin Harmash, the trainer of REBEL SONG (IRE), was notified that prior to the horse being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for REBEL SONG (IRE).

MODEL PUPIL (GB) and WITHOUT FEAR (FR) were slow to begin. RENEW (IRE) raced wide without cover throughout. Near the 350 metres MOMENT IN TIME (IRE) which was finishing strongly and making ground quickly into the field, restrained away from the heels of SADDLERS ROCK (IRE) which was tiring. MOMENT IN TIME (IRE) then shifted in causing WITHOUT FEAR (FR) to check. On inquiry Stewards accepted that this was a racing incident and Jockey J Crowley (MOMENT IN TIME (IRE)) had attempted to avoid shifting in. Approaching the 300 metres BUCKWHEAT (GB) took a run in restricted room between SADDLERS ROCK (IRE) on its inside and STATUTORY (IRE) on its outside. Shortly after, STATUTORY (IRE) lay in marginally, with BUCKWHEAT (GB) shifting in causing SADDLERS ROCK (IRE) to be tightened. Jockey M Barzalona (BUCKWHEAT (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for taking a run where there was insufficient room. Jockey L Jurado (MODEL PUPIL (GB)) dropped his whip near the 300 metres. During the running of this race the left hind leg bandage of MOMENT IN TIME (IRE) worked loose. On inquiry, trainer Mr D Simcock explained that he had placed a soft cotton wool type bandage under the external vet-wrap which was taped and this had worked loose. MOMENT IN TIME (IRE) had returned with the external bandage in place. Mr D Simcock undertook to review the use of this type of bandage.
