SHAMAAL NIBRAS (USA) – (P Dobbs): Restrained and bumped near the 1800 metres, becoming unbalanced. SNOW SQUALL (GB) – (F Tylicki): Lay outwards near the 1800 metres. NIGHT RUN (FR) – (G Buckell): Slow to begin. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for PILOTE(IRE) (R Ffrench)and SHAMAAL NIBRAS (USA)(P Dobbs) being tightened and restraining near the 1800 metres. It was established that NAFAQA (IRE)(D O’Neill) had shifted in at that stage of the race tightening KHUSOOSY (USA)(P Hanagan) onto PILOTE(IRE) which tightened SHAMAAL NIBRAS (USA). At the same time SNOW SQUALL (GB) (F Tylicki) lay outwards compounding the incident. Jockey D O’Neill (NAFAQA (IRE)), whilst straightening his mount when it lay inwards, was reprimanded under ERA 69(i) for careless riding and advised to make every effort to keep his mounts straight in future. Apprentice G Buckell (NIGHT RUN (FR)) was reminded of the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(ii) for continuing to hit his mount after its chance of winning or being place was clearly gone.
