ERA Media Release - Mr Abdullah Al Hammadi

Following a report from the ERA Arabian Handicapper that a horse trained by Mr. Abdullah Al Hammadi had incomplete racing form, the ERA Stewards held an inquiry on the 22nd November 2017, into the registration of seven (7) horses in the care of Mr. Al Hammadi from the Al Ajban Stable.

The ERA conducted an audit of all horse registered by the Al Ajban Stables in November and December 2016, it was discovered that seven horses had been incorrectly registered, by failing to include a complete racing performance as required under ERA Rule 23(iv).

During the inquiry evidence was taken from Mr. Saif Mohd Ali, the Administration Manager for Al Ajban Stables. It was established that Al Ajban Stables registered seven horses as unraced maidens, when in fact these seven had all raced in the USA. Mr. Ali advised that all seven horses, due to being fillies or mares, had been sent to the UAE for breeding purposes and only after arriving in the UAE, the Stable decided to train these horses for racing. Further it confirmed that MAGIC NUMBER (US) and FABLED (US) had previously won in the USA and as such were ineligible to maiden races conducted in the UAE.

The Stewards reconvened the inquiry on the 4th December 2017, with Mr. Al Hammadi and Mr. Ali present.

Mr. Hammadi pleaded guilty to the provisions of ERA Rule 89, in that he ran MAGIC NUMBER (US) and FABLED (US) in races they were not qualified for and subsequently had to be disqualified. Mr. Hammadi was fined the sum of AED 10,000.

Pursuant to ERA Rule 89, MAGIC NUMBER (US) and FABLED (US) were disqualified as the winner and 6th place respectively, at Al Ain in Race 5 the “Al Saad Maiden” on the 18th March 2017 and the placing’s adjusted to:

Finish Place Horse Name Trainer Jockey

1st AL HUDA (AE) Eric Lemartinel Tadhg O’Shea

2nd YAA SALAM (US) Yousif bin Ghilan Paolo Sirigu

3rd GAFEL (AE) Helal Al Alawi Dane O’Neill

4th HAWAFEZ (AE) Eric Lemartinal Gerald Avranche

5th AF LAOWAHAH (AE) Ernst Oertel Royston Ffrench

Pursuant to ERA Rule 89, FABLED (US) was disqualified from 14th place, at Sharjah in Race 1 the “La Grande Classique de Longines Maiden” on the 11th November 2017 and the placing’s adjusted accordingly.

Mr. Hammadi also pleaded guilty to the provisions of ERA Rule 11(i), in that he negligently failed to declare the full racing form of FABLED (US), MAGIC MASQUERADE (US), MAGIC NUMBER (US), METAMORPHISM (US), WALL STREET WATCH (US), WASABII (US) and WATERFORD CRYSTRAL (US) required of him under ERA Rule 23(iv).
