Racehorse Ownership

Racehorse Ownership

It is a proven fact that the United Arab Emirates is among the most profitable centres in the world to own a racehorse. This was confirmed in October 2001 at the annual meeting of the International Federation of Horse Racing Authorities in Paris who ranked the UAE second of all the established racing nations in what owners receive in return for the costs of keeping their horse in training.

On average, AED 230 is returned for every AED 100 spent on upkeep and training for each horse. This was an increase on the 1998 figure of AED 132 returned confirming the continual growth of the UAE on the international racing stage.

Generous prize money, world class facilities and the perfect climate, together with races to suit all classes of horses, from Maidens through to Group I events, make the UAE the ideal centre in which to race a horse.

The International Stable, based at Meydan Racecourse, next door to the most state-of-the-art quarantine facilities in the world and within an hour and a half's drive of all four of the UAE's racecourses, has added an extra alternative to those not residing in the UAE to become a part of the world's most rapidly developing racing centre.

Racing is conducted from early November through to end of March with approximately 60 meetings held during this time with the minimum prizemoney per race being approximately USD 15,000. Races are held on dirt and turf with distances ranging from 1,000m to 3,200m.
