Vaccinations

Instruction number 12 in the Rules contains provision that no horse may run in a race unless it is certified by a veterinary surgeon to be correctly vaccinated against equine influenza in accordance with that Instruction.

Notes on Vaccinations

1. Both injectable and intranasal vaccines are acceptable for the above purposes.
2. Trainers should be aware that the UAE has special import rules in respect of Influenza vaccination, which are over and above ERA requirements. Therefore some horses which comply with the Rules in respect of Influenza vaccination may not meet the UAE import conditions and may require an additional vaccination in order to do so. Early consideration of the Rules and the import requirements should allow vaccinations to be timed so as to comply with both sets of requirements.
