Career Profile Born on February 25th 1973, Ted Durcan first came to the UAE as the second jockey at Paddy Rudkin's Blue Stables during the 1997 - 1998 season, Durcan continued as number two jockey the following season and struck up a good partnership with horses owned by Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. For the success Sheikh Rashid offered Durcan the job as retained rider of horses in his ownership. Durcan grabbed the opportunity, winning the 1999 - 2000 UAE Jockey's Championship, highlights of this season were wins in the Godolphin Mile with Conflict and Rhythm Band in the Dubai Duty Free. Durcan successfully defended his UAE Championship in 2000 -2001 and the 2001 - 2002 season. Following a paddock accident which left Durcan with a broken leg during the 2002 - 2003 season he lost the championship to Gary Hind.
