SHAARD (IRE) (R Hills) dwelt as the start was effected losing approximately 10 lengths. Jockey R Hills stated that although standing well the colt had refused to jump. At the 450m DUBAI MOON (USA) (W Smith) was bumped and lost ground when DELUDE (IRE) (T Durcan) shifted in. On enquiry jockey T Durcan pleaded guilty to careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (15 December at Abu Dhabi and 18 December at Ghantoot) and fined AED 2500.

MUWASSI (GB) (S Sanders) and SIEGE (IRE) (T Durcan) were slow to begin. TAKES TUTU (USA) (K Dalgleish) pulled hard in the early stages. Passing the 400m AL MAALI (IRE) (R Hills) shifted in to the inside of JALAAB (IRE) (J Carroll). At this stage KIRTHAR (USA) (P Smith) was attempting a run on the inside had to be steadied. Shortly after this, VICIOUS WARRIOR (GB) (V Halliday) shifted inwards causing JALAAB (IRE) to be eased. Jockey P Smith stated that he had attempted a run at this stage, but the gap had closed and he had consequently taken KIRTHAR (USA) outwards. In considering this evidence Stewards warned jockey V Halliday that he must afford runners on his inside sufficient room. Jockey K Dalgleish (TAKES TUTU (USA)) was fined AED 1000 under Ins 8 (a) and (h) for hitting his horse forward of the saddle and with the whip extended above shoulder height.
