MEERA (FR) (M Hills) was slow into stride. After being slow to begin ALI DE PIBOUL (FR) (G Hind) threw its head near the 1450m. When making ground in the straight CRONOS AL MAURY (FR) (R Mullen) was impeded by the tiring MEERA (FR) and had to be taken outwards to obtain a clear run near the 200m. When questioned regarding the performance of MEERA (FR) jockey M Hills stated that the mare had been agitated in the paddock before the race. He elected to ride MEERA (FR) back in the field and after travelling extremely well at the turn into the straight he had asked the mare for an effort. However it had failed to respond and had tired markedly. He could only suggest that MEERA (FR) was unsuited by racing a week apart. Assistant trainer Mr S Whitaker could not explain the performance but he too believed that the mare had been unsuited by racing consecutively. He advised that he would attempt to space the mare's starts.
