Stewards' Reports for Al Sahraa Cup
Stewards considered an earlier request from trainer Mr M Al Kurdi that jockey J Carroll replace jockey G Zimmerman on SPEEDFIT TOO (IRE). After determining that jockey J Carroll's mount KHAFAAQ (GB) had been withdrawn earlier, Stewards acceded to this request but ruled that jockey G Zimmerman be paid a riding fee of AED 250 and further fined trainer Mr M Al Kurdi AED 500 for the change of rider. SPEEDFIT TOO (IRE) lost considerable ground at the start. Jockey J Carroll advised that the gelding sat back as the start was effected and was reluctant to jump. Jockey V Halliday (PERSUADE (GB)) was warned for using his whip with his arm extended above the shoulder. A post veterinary inspection of NAJMAT ALSAAED (KSA) (C Taylor) revealed nothing amiss.

LETS TRT IT (GB) (P Bruneau) refused to load in the stalls and was withdrawn at 7.29pm. Trainer Mr R Alford was advised that LETS TRY IT (GB) must perform two satisfactory Stalls' Tests before being permitted to race. SLEEPING WEAPON (USA) (S Sanders) veered outwards at the start carrying FALCON HILL (GB) (M Hills) onto MUTAMAYYAZ (USA) (R Hills) which lost ground. When being straightened SLEEPING WEAPON (USA) lost ground. FALCON HILL (GB) raced wide on straightening. SLEEPING WEAPON (USA) lay outwards in the straight with jockey S Sanders unable to ride out the gelding. Trainer Mr A Smith advised that at its previous start YAJREE (IRE) had been very fresh and when racing keenly had been ridden too close to the lead. He was of the opinion that the gelding, although placed over 1600m recently, was actually better suited by today's distance. He further cited the fact that YAJREE (IRE) had the luxury of a 4.5kg allowance as being a significant factor of the win.

KAYSERI (IRE) (G Hind) jumped awkwardly losing ground. CLODION (IRE) (W Smith) was slow to begin and raced wide between the 900m and the turn into the straight. Running onto the course proper KELLY (SAF) (P Whitmore) was crowded on the inside of LUNAR SOVEREIGN (USA) and when being steadied lost ground. It was established that as the field proceeded onto the course from the 2000m chute, KELLY (SAF) was carried inside the line of the moveable rail which was out 7m. This caused it to be restrained when running out of room. This issue will be addressed with the Clerk of the Course. TRADEMARK (SAF) (T Durcan) raced fiercely in the early stages and near the 1600m threw its head when being steadied from the heels of GRANDE JETE (SAF) (M Hills).
