Jockey C Arnold replaced H Keohane on EXPLOSIVO (BRZ) after it was ascertained there had been a clerical error. MEADAAAR (USA) (T O'Shea) was slow into stride. EXPLOSIVO (BRZ) (C Arnold), after being slow to begin, raced wide throughout. MAIDAAN (GB) (T Naughton) pulled hard in the early stages and near the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of MISTER COSMI (GB) (M Hills). Apprentice T Naughton explained that the horse was racing erratically at this stages and bumped the rail on several occasions. At the turn into the straight BURNT EMBER (USA) (A McGlone) checked off the heels of DULCET SPEAR (GB) (W Smith). On enquiry it was established that DULCET SPEAR (GB) was tiring and was tightened when RANEEM (USA) (J Murtagh) rolled inwards. This caused DULCET SPEAR (GB) to be steadied. After taking into consideration the mitigating factors Stewards reprimanded jockey J Murtagh for failing to afford runners on his inside sufficient room. JALAAB (IRE) (W Supple) was impeded near the 350m. EXPLOSIVO (BRZ) lay inwards considerably in the straight. MEADAAAR (USA) had to steady on the inside of BAARIDD (GB) near the 600m.
