LINETHROWER (IRE) (R Becher) was slow to begin and raced erratically in the early stages. On straightening QUICK ACT (IRE) (J Murtagh) shifted out bumping heavily with PRIDE OF DUBAI (USA) (M Hussey), which buffeted with the hindquarters of SOUTH CAROLINA (USA) (W Ryan). The Clerk of the Course was shown the patrol film related to Race 1 whereby a section of railing near the 1650 metres, which joined the running rail of the dirt track to the outside fence on the turf track became dislodged as the field passed it. He was advised to take remedial action to ensure that there was no reoccurrence of this problem.

This objection was dismissed. GOLDEN FITZ (ARG) (R Mullen) was slow to begin. SOUTHERN PARTNER (USA) (T O'Shea) raced fiercely in the early stages. PRADO'S WISH (USA) hung inwards over the concluding 200m bumping DUBAI GUEST (CAN) near the 50m. On enquiry jockey S Sanders pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for one day (Sunday 16 February at Abu Dhabi) and fined AED 2500.
