AMANDUS (USA) (J Carroll) was slow into stride. PARHELION (GER) (L Dettori) veered outwards at the start. MOOMBA (USA) (J Murtagh) shifted out on straightening carrying NISSR AL JAZIRA (IRE) (S O'Gorman) wide. AMANDUS (USA) drifted inwards the straight and near the 250m caused TAFASEEL (USA) (W Supple) to be steadied from its heels and then shifted wide on the track. Jockey S O'Gorman (NISSR AL JAZIRA (IRE)) was reprimanded for continuing to use his whip contrary to the provisions of Ins 8 (b).

When proceeding to the start ANGELS R WATCHING (USA) reared up over the outside fence dislodging jockey S Hamel. ANGELS R WATCHING (USA) then galloped back towards the saddling area, slipping over. ANGELS R WATCHING (USA) was ascertained to have fractured its off fore leg and was subsequently euthanised. ANGELS R WATCHING (USA) was withdrawn officially at 9.27pm. LADY CATHERINE (GB) (J Carroll) raced wide throughout. LOVING KINDNESS (USA) tended to lay outwards in the straight with jockey L Dettori easing the filly down over the concluding stages. He explained that LOVING KINDNESS (USA) had been inclined to hang outwards from the turn into the straight and when put under pressure near the 400m had drifted badly.

HOBB ALWAHTAN (GB) (C Arnold) and LAZEEM (USA) (S Hamel) raced wide throughout. Passing the 1200m KHITAAM (IRE) (R Moore) was taken outwards to avoid the heels of the tiring NESSUNO (BRZ) and carried MILAZZO (IRE) (A Whelan) onto OUTSMARTED (USA), which had to be restrained from the heels of BEAMISH PRINCE (GB) (D O'Donohoe). Apprentice R Moore was reprimanded for shifting out at this stage. WORTHILY (USA) (C Gannon) drifted in over the concluding 200m and near the 100m caused MILAZZO (IRE) to be steadied. Apprentice C Gannon was cautioned with regards to failing to straighten her mount when it shifted ground. General Report Jockey Sultan Al Amoori was fined AED 250 under ERA 100 (v) for striking his mount about the head with his hand at trackwork on Sunday 16 February 2003.
