Jockey W Supple replaced non claiming apprentice T O'Shea on MOBTAKER (USA). AVIONIC (IRE) (R Moore) missed the start and when taken acutely across the rear of the field struck the running rail, dislodging apprentice R Moore. Apprentice R Moore explained that after missing the start he had slapped AVIONIC (IRE) with the whip and the horse had shifted away from the whip quickly, thereby striking the running rail. Apprentice R Moore was uninjured.
