NAJUM (FR) was permitted to race in blinkers/pacifiers and trainer Mr A Alraihe was fined AED 250. AF AL JABBER (GB) was withdrawn at 7.01pm when it refused to be loaded. Trainer Mr D El Din was advised that AF AL JABBER (GB) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a Stalls' Test before being permitted to race. AL DHAS (FR) (G Hind) veered inwards at the start crowding HAMASAH (GB) (S Sanders) which lost ground. In the early stages MAZAYA (GB) (W Supple) raced fiercely. Near the 400m MAZAYA (GB) lay inwards crowding the tiring DJARICK DE L'EYRE (FR) (S Hamel). Passing the 175m TORNADE DU DESERT (FR) (S O'Gorman) rolled outwards brushing BADRAN (FR) (C Arnold). When questioned regarding the improvement in form of RAYIK (GB) (J Carroll) trainer Mr P Rudkin stated that jockey R Hills had reported that RAYIK (GB) had resented the kickback when racing rearward at its previous start and had become uncompetitive. Today the colt had an easy passage when allowed to lead.

SICNEE (USA) (H Keohane) and BOURKAN (GB) (T Naughton) were slow to begin. PARA GLIDER (FR) (W Ryan) was slow into stride. Approaching the 1050m PALOMAR (BRZ) (C Arnold) shifted ground when racing erratically and this caused OCEAN STAR (GB) (S Hamel), which was hanging outwards, to be checked across the heels of PALOMAR (BRZ) bumping with YOMCHI (IRE) (S O'Gorman), which in turn inconvenienced SICNEE (USA). SICNEE (USA) was inclined to lay inwards over the concluding 300m. Jockey C Arnold reported that PALOMAR (BRZ) appeared to choke down in running. A subsequent veterinary inspection revealed nothing amiss. Trainer Mr A Selvaratnam advised he would put a tongue tie on PALOMAR (BRZ) on its next start.

LORD TOLD (ARG) (C Taylor) dwelt at the start losing considerable ground. KANDAHAR (IRE) (S O'Gorman) was slow into stride. At the 1100m KHANJAR (USA) (K McEvoy) was impeded inside SOUTHERN PARTNER (USA) (A McGlone). RUSSIAN RELATION (USA) (R Mullen) raced wide in the middle stages. At the 425m KHANJAR (USA) had to be restrained. On enquiry it was established that KHANJAR (USA) was carried in by SAVONAROLA (GB) (G Hind) at the same time CHAPLINESQUE (USA) (K Darley) on its inside rolled out, which resulted in KHANJAR (USA) having to be restrained. After enquiring into this incident Stewards believed that due to the contributing movement from the inside they could not justify a charge of careless riding, however jockey G Hind was reprimanded for failing to straighten his mount when it shifted ground. Jockey R Mullen was questioned regarding his riding of (RUSSIAN RELATION (USA). He advised that after travelling wide he had put the colt under pressure on straightening and believed it was giving its best under this form of riding when making ground in the straight.

ASHRAAF (USA) (R Hills) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 9.45pm acting on veterinary advice after it had fallen whilst being saddled. Running onto the course proper AKINFEET (SAF) (K Darley) tightened ANYAAS (IRE) onto GONFILIA (GER) (L Dettori). Near the 1300m ANYAAS (IRE) threw its head when being checked off the heels of AKINFEET (SAF). Shortly after this GONFILIA (GER) had to be steadied. On enquiry jockey K Darley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended for one day (Thursday 3 April at Nad Al Sheba deferred from 29 March under ERA 99 (ii)) and fined the sum of AED 3000.
