JUNIOR DEL SAUL (FR) (C Avery) was slow into stride. ROYAL EPIC (US) (D O'Donohoe) baulked shortly after the start losing ground. BIG EASY (US) (R Moore) raced fiercely in the early stages. Passing the 250m KHOUTOUBIA (FR) (G Avranche), which was laying inwards, attempted a marginal run between AL ANOOD (GB) (D Bouland) on its outside and VELTE (US) (G Hind) on its inside. KHOUTOUBIA (FR) had to be steadied when those horses shifted ground slightly and was then taken to the outside of AL ANOOD (GB).

After entering the track LANDSLIDE (IRE) jibbed dislodging jockey P Hanagan. LANDSLIDE (IRE) galloped riderless for some distance but after being captured was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and passed fit to start. FAWWARAH (GB) (A Bouleau) was unable to be loaded in its stall and was withdrawn. Trainer Mr A de Mieulle was advised that FAWWARAH (GB) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a Stalls' Test before being permitted to race. BESTAM (GB) (G Birrer) proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that BESTAM (GB) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a Stalls' Test before being permitted to race. Passing the 1300m MARHOOB (USA) (R Mullen) steadied off the heels of BAARIDD (GB) (B Doyle). At the same time MAJAARAT (IRE) (P Dobbs) was improving its position in the field and this caused CORRUPT (BRZ) (M Hussey) to be restrained. ST MALO (USA) (D Biggs) which was following had to be steadied and threw its head. On straightening CRYSTAL MAGICIAN (GB) (G Hind) rolled outwards bumping WALMOOH (GB) (P Smith). Near the 350m MAJAARAT (IRE) was impeded when attempting a run on the inside of tiring FIGHT (USA) (D O'Donohoe) when that gelding rolled inwards. Near the 300m KUNDOOZ (GB) (G Avranche) steadied when crossed by BAARIDD (GB). KUNDOOZ (GB) shifted outwards when struck with the whip over the final 150m. Jockey G Avranche was cautioned with regards to using his with his arm extended above the shoulder.
