ZANATAN (FR) (P Hanagan) commenced to race fiercely approaching the winning post the first time and refused to settle in the early stages. The colt compounded from near the 900m and a subsequent veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities. On straightening LUNCH TIME (GB) (T Durcan) shifted out and had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MARCIALE (USA) (S Sanders), which was tiring.

RS YOSRA (AE) (D Hayse) commenced to lay outwards from the 1300m and raced wide until straightening. AL HAAN GHANTOOT (AE) hung outwards badly from the 500m with jockey G Hind having to restrain the filly which drifted to the outside in the straight. NOOR AL THANIYA (AE) (T Durcan) veered outwards at the 50m.

ENTA OMRI (FR) (R Moore) was unable to be loaded in its stall and was subsequently withdrawn at 9.34pm. Trainer Mr L Y Carter was advised that ENTA OMRI (FR) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete a Stalls' Test before being permitted to race. KARIM DE LA PRADE (FR) (M Hussey) dwelt at the start losing ground. CR HERCULES (US) (C Arnold) after jumping awkwardly, had to be restrained from running onto the heels of horses in front. MAWARED (GB) (W Supple) steadied when CR HERCULES (US) shifted in at the 2100m. CR HERCULES (US) pulled hard in the middle stages. At the turn out of the straight LORDMAN DE BLAZIET (FR) (T Durcan) struck the running rail heavily and MURHIB (GB) (A McGlone) had to be restrained. On enquiry it was established that RS SAMIN (AE) (D Hayse) shifted in carrying AINAWI (FR) (P Hanagan) inwards, at the same time as the pace was slowed. This initiated this incident. Jockey D Hayse was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (1 January 2004 at Nad Al Sheba and 4 January at Abu Dhabi). MURHIB (GB) (A McGlone) was impeded at the 200m when BADRAN (FR) (B Doyle) rolled outwards. Jockey B Doyle will be questioned regarding his whip use over the final stages.
