VAN NISTELROOY (US) (T Durcan) commenced to shift in passing the 200m causing VELTE (US) (G Hind) to momentarily steady at the 125m. Jockey T Durcan was advised to straighten his mounts when they shift.

LORD TOLD (ARG) was withdrawn at 6.35pm under the provisions of ERA 9 (ix) after the Stewards considered a request from trainer Mr R Simpson to race the gelding with a pacifier which had one cup covered by tape. Trainer Mr R Simpson informed the Stewards that without use of this piece of equipment LORD TOLD (ARG) would present a danger to other runners as it had a sight impediment. In light of this trainer Mr R Simpson was advised that LORD TOLD (ARG) must perform a satisfactory Stalls' Test with an approved piece of equipment before being permitted to be declared to race. AL SAKKAB (USA) (P Dobbs) was hard to load. STARSAILOR (GER) (L Bester) was slow to begin. NAJMATI (GB) (K Fallon) jumped awkwardly and blundered. MR POP IDOL (GB) (T Durcan) veered outwards markedly at the start causing INDICANT (JPN) (A Whelan) to steady. Near the 600m MR DICKENS (USA) (M Hussey) rolled outwards and bumped CALMANT (USA) (P Hanagan). Shortly after this ATTENTIVE (IRE) (R Moore) shifted in with CALMANT (USA) being crowded. At the 400m and again approaching the 200m NAJMATI (GB) and NAZEEH (USA) (G Hind) brushed. KEEP (USA) (H Ramlugaan) raced erratically near the 400m.

SLEEPING WEAPON (USA) (A McGlone) blundered at the start losing ground. DELUDE (IRE) (T Durcan) was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m BENKRAM (GB) (P Smith) had to be restrained. Jockey P Smith explained that the colt was leading with its incorrect leg and he had restrained it and attempted to get it to change lead. However BENKRAM (GB) had reacted badly thereby losing ground. MEDRAAR (GB) (W Supple) was impeded passing the 300m when PRADO'S WISH (USA) (S Sanders) shifted in. Jockey T Durcan reported that DELUDE (IRE) was reluctant the face the kickback. E B'S SWEEP (USA) (R Burke) bled during running. Trainer Mr M Kettle was advised that the filly must perform a satisfactory gallop in the presence of a Veterinary Officer before being permitted to be entered to race. Trainer Mr A Smith reported that BENKRAM (GB) returned with a haematoma to the near knee.

When the start was effected OCEAN OF STORMS (IRE) (D O'Donohoe) refused to jump and took no part in the race. As the horse had performed poorly from the start at its previous two races, trainer Mr C Wroe was advised that OCEAN OF STORMS (IRE) was placed on the Starter's List and must complete three Stalls' Tests before being permitted to race. ASOOD (GB) (T Durcan) was slow to begin. Trainer Mr A Smith reported that he believed DAWAARR (IRE) (K Fallon) was unsuited by the distance of today's race and it was now his intention to drop DAWAARR (IRE) back in distance for future starts. Trainer Mr C Wroe was fined AED 200 for failing to declare the tongue tie on OCEAN OF STORMS (IRE).
