SAABRIN (GB) (P Smith) jumped awkwardly. Stewards enquired into D O'Donohoe's riding of NEXT KNIGHT (USA) (second) over the concluding stages. Jockey D O'Donohoe advised that he believed that he had never secured the lead and was always conscious of MISTER DICKENS (USA) (S Chin) on his outside, believing that colt to be in advance of him. After considering the evidence of the sectional times for this race, although Stewards believed that jockey D O'Donohoe had not ridden NEXT KNIGHT (USA) out until the end of the race, they were not satisfied that this had cost it winning. As such they believed they could not substantiate a charge in terms of the Rules, however jockey D O'Donohoe was reprimanded and reminded that he must ride his mounts out to the end of the race. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FRANCAL (FR) jockey R Moore believed the gelding was unsuited by the distance of today's race.

Near the 350m DESERT SANDS (AUS) (T Durcan) rolled in crowding FOREST OF DREAMS (GB) (P Hanagan) which had to momentarily steady when JASMIM DA NOITE (BRZ) (S Chin) shifted out. Jockey P Hanagan advised that FOREST OF DREAMS (GB) was very agitated prior to the start and had raced too keenly in the slow early pace. He further stated that it had been to the colt's detriment racing without cover. A veterinary inspection of the colt revealed nothing amiss.
