The saddle on HALFSONG (SWE) slipped forward on jumping placing jockey R Moore at considerable disadvantage, eventually easing the filly down in the straight. CRONOS (IRE) (R Mullen) raced wide throughout. Near the 500m CLODION (IRE) (T Durcan) was held up behind MAHROOS (USA) (R Hills) and when taken outwards bumped with LODGE KEEPER (GB) (G Avranche) which shifted in, CLODION (IRE) was then steadied off the heels of WILFUL (GB) (G Hind). Shortly after this SOLE (BRZ) (P Hanagan) rolled inwards crowding WILFUL (GB). CLODION (IRE) had to again be eased near the 200m and taken out across the heels of SOLE (BRZ) to obtain a clear run. Jockey J Spencer (SHAMI [GB]) was warned with regards to using his whip with his arm extended above the shoulder. MAHROOS (USA) returned with lacerations to its off hind and having cast its off hind plate.

AL MAALI (IRE) (R Hills) and TROPICAL STAR (IRE) (R Mullen) bumped at the start. CURULE (USA) (S Sanders) raced wide throughout. On straightening CHANGE THE GRANGE (AUS) (L Dettori) was crowded inwards slightly and this held VICTORY MOON (SAF) (W Marwing) tight. Jockey W Marwing lost his whip when it became entangled in jockey L Dettori's gear. VICTORY MOON (SAF) was impeded for some distance thereafter. Passing the 275m CURULE (USA) was restrained when DUBAI HONOR (GB) (W Supple) shifted in. DUBAI HONOR (GB) continued to shift ground causing FABRIA (PER) (S Madrid) to be steadied from its heels and then be impeded near the 125m. On enquiry jockey W Supple was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for one day (Sunday 8 February at Abu Dhabi) and fined the sum of AED 2500.
