Prior to entering the paddock the Senior Paddock Steward Mr F Cooper ascertained that MAHFOOTH (USA) (G Hind) and CAT BELLING (IRE) (R Mullen) were saddled with the wrong gear. This was rectified. On enquiry trainer Mr R Bouresly was fined USD 2000 under ERA 9 (xvi) (b) for negligence in the saddling of MAHFOOTH (USA) and CAT BELLING (IRE). CAT BELLING (IRE) jumped awkwardly losing ground and then raced wide in the middle stages. Passing the 400m ONE MORE ROUND (USA) (P Smullen) and SURVEYOR (SAF) (W Marwing) buffeted for some distance.
