MADE IN FRANCE CLA (FR) (R Mullen) and MASCHA AL MELS (FR) (S O'Gorman) were fractious in the stalls prior to the start. After jumping awkwardly MLEEH (FR) (S Castellier) was tightened when MASCHA AL MELS (FR) shifted in. When crossed by RYAN GIGGS (FR) (T Durcan) near the 1450m, AL ZAEEM (FR) (S Sanders) steadied. RYAN GIGGS (FR) was taken outwards passing the 250m with MLEEH (FR) throwing its head and baulking, thereby losing ground. Jockey S Castellier advised that MLEEH (FR) had reacted badly to this momentarily impediment. Jockey R Mullen (MADE IN FRANCE CLA [FR]) dropped his whip at 300m.

ELGHANI (GB) (R Hills) reared as the start was effected thereby losing ground. GRAND STAND (NZ) (K McEvoy) and AFGHAN (USA) (G Hind) bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1500m JEBAL SURAAJ (USA) (S Chin) crowded AFGHAN (USA), which was racing fiercely, this caused GRAND STAND (NZ) to be restrained. Jockey K McEvoy explained that after being impeded at this stage, GRAND STAND (NZ) was shuffled back in the field and then resented the kickback. Near the 1400m AFGHAN (USA) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CURULE (USA) (G Birrer). Jockey S Sanders (DEODATUS [USA]) was fined AED 500 under ERA 65 (ii) for weighing in one kilogram overweight.
