SHUT ALARB (USA) (G Hind) was unruly in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. PORTLAND COUP (AUS) (R Roberts) veered outwards at the start bumping SECRET PLOT (GB) (P Dobbs) onto DOLBEAR (USA) (F Da Silva) which lost ground. GANEEN (IRE) (D O'Donohoe) and SLANE HILL (USA) (T Durcan) bumped at the start. HOLLOW DYNASTY (USA) (D Bast) bore outwards over the concluding 400m. Jockey D Hayse was questioned regarding his riding of ALTON (USA). He stated that he had been instructed to ride the colt with cover in the early stages and to hold it up for a late run. He was able to settle ALTON (USA) in the early stages and had achieved this, and when extricating the colt near the 400m, had hit it three times with the whip. In considering this evidence Stewards advised jockey D Hayse that, in their opinion, he had ridden an ill judged race and further that, although he maintained that ALTON (USA) was running at top speed over the latter stages, that he was expected to exercise greater vigour.

MAJAARAT (IRE) (M Fenton) was slow into stride and lay outwards in the early stages. MAJAARAT (IRE) took the turn into the straight wide and finished wide on the track. Trainer Mr P Rudkin was advised to take steps to improve the horse's racing manner. Approaching the 1200m EMRAN (USA) (S Chin) was tightened losing ground. It was established that JENDALAWI (USA) (C Arnold), which was racing on its outside, was hanging inwards and the saddle on that horse slipped sideways thereby placing jockey C Arnold at a considerable disadvantage. JENDALAWI (USA) then continued to hang inwards and near the 800m shifted inwards tightening DAWAARR (IRE) (W Mason) onto MAWWAL (GB) (P Dobbs) which lost ground.

Stewards enquired into the late withdrawal of LUZERN (GB). It was established that Dubai Equine Hospital had examined the gelding at 10am and subsequently had forwarded the veterinary certificate of withdrawal to the ERA offices. POTRO CELOSO (ARG) (C Arnold) raced wide the early stages. HOLY POLE (USA) (L Bester) and JUMHOOR (IRE) (W Supple) were crowded at the start when OLD DORSET (USA) (D Mernagh) on the outside shifted inwards.
