CORRUPT (BRZ) was withdrawn at 7:14 pm when the veterinary officer found the horse to be lame in the off hind. Trainer Mr P Rudkin was advised that CORRUPT (BRZ) would require a veterinary certificate before being entered to race again. Passing the 1200m PFENNING (GB) (J Panas) was tightened for room by TAJSEED (IRE) (W Supple) on its outside which had tended to over race. Near the 500m PFENNING (GB) shifted outwards making contact with BO'ORTCHOU (FR) (D Mernagh). Jockey P Dobbs reported that he was of the opinion that JANADEL (IRE) (P Dobbs) had choked down in running. A subsequent veterinary inspection of the horse revealed nothing amiss.

On enquiry Trainer Mr M Al Darmaki's representative was fined AED 1000 for presenting HARKI DES AGES (FR) with non regulation racing plates. VELTE (US) (R Mullen) commenced awkwardly. Near the 750m RAGGASS (FR) (G Hind) brushed with the running rail. RAGGASS (FR) returned lame in the near fore and with a laceration to the off fore heal.

Race 2 - Stewards inquired into a report from Clerk of the Scales Mr Y Mabrouk that jockey M Fenton (CORRUPT [BRZ]) had attempted to weigh out with a non-regulation body protector. Jockey M Fenton was found guilty to a charge under ERA 9(xvi) (a) in that his conduct in attempting to weigh out with a non-regulation body protector breached ERA Rule 62(iv). He was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 3 days (8th, 13th and 15th January 2005 at Nad Al Sheba) and fined the sum of AED 3000. Race 5 - D Mernagh replaced R Moore on URA KING (US).
