Trainer Mr M De Kock was advised that TROPICAL SNOW (SAF) would not be permitted to race for three (3) weeks and must perform a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA veterinary officer before being permitted to enter to race.

Near the 700 m SUMMONER (GB) eased to avoid the heels of T-BIRD (SAF) (W Marwing) which shifted outwards. SABBEEH (USA) (L Dettori) was inclined to lay out in the straight. On straightening SIMIANNA (GB) (W Supple) was blocked for a clear run. Jockey W Marwing (T-BIRD [SAF]) dropped his whip at the 350 m. TERFEL (GB) (M Fenton) was impeded on several occasions in the straight and returned with a laceration to its off hind fetlock. A veterinary inspection of SUMMONER (GB) revealed nothing amiss.

In light of this behaviour trainer Mr S Bin Suroor was advised that HOLBORN (UAE) was placed on the starter's list and must complete two satisfactory stalls test before being entered to race. SWEDISH SHAVE (FR) (T Jarnet) was slow to begin. MOUNT ABU (IRE) (W Marwing) was crowded on jumping. Approaching the 400 m SWEDISH SHAVE (FR) was carried wide when LIM'S GRAND (NZ) (S Chin) was taken out to obtain clear running. Near the 300 m DAMACHIDA (IRE) (R Hills) had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring LYDGATE (USA) (L Dettori). Approaching the 200 m BOLD DEMAND (GB) (G Hind) veered inwards away from LIM'S GRAND (NZ) and brushed with LYDGATE (USA). Stewards question jockey T Culhane with regards to the use of his whip on JONNY EBENEEZER (GB). After considering that jockey T Culhane had used his whip only in the backhand position and that JONNY EBENEEZER (GB) was not struck with each action, Stewards reminded jockey T Culhane of his obligation related to the whip rules. LIM'S GRAND (NZ) returned with a laceration to its off hind.
