FIRST VIEW (USA) was fractious in the stalls prior to the start with jockey G Birrer sustaining a minor injury to his left knee. ONESHOTTWOLIONS (IRE) (J Panas) was slow to begin. On straightening AL SAHIM AL ASWAD (USA) (D O'Donohoe) lay outwards having to restrain from the heels of CAVALARRA (GB) (T O'Shea). Passing the 400m CAVALARRA (GB) shifted inwards causing AL SAHIM AL ASWAD (USA) to shift ground and be restrained with FIRST VIEW (USA) (G Birrer) also having to restrain. On enquiry jockey T O'Shea was found guilty of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for one day (Acting under ERA Rule 99 (ii) the suspension was deferred until March 26 at Nad Al Sheba).

At the 1100m TWILIGHT BLUES (IRE) was carried inwards by MILLBAG (IRE) causing JONNY EBENEEZER (GB) (L Dettori) to be steadied. PETIT CALVA (FR) (G Hind) raced fiercely in the middle stages throwing its head when being restrained off the heels of NATIONAL ICON (SAF) (J Bekker). Passing the 950m MILLBAG (IRE) which was racing fiercely lost ground when being restrained with BRINDISI (GB) (M Kinane) which was following having to be steadied. PETIT CALVA (FR) was blocked for a clear run between the 350m and the 200m.
