MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) (G Hind) veered outwards at the start bumping AL NAB'A (AE) (T O'Shea) onto KASSER (AE) (C Avery) which buffeted with AF ASHRAQAT (AE) (F Da Silva). Near the 1500m JAP MUTHEER (AE) (D O'Donohoe) shifted in when racing greenly and crowded MOUTAWAJ (AE) (W Supple) onto YALMAA (AE) (J Panas). Passing the 1000m AF KHATEERAH (AE) (M Hussey) rolled inwards tightening RS KERIM (AE) (D Hayse) onto YALMAA (AE) which had to be steadied. Passing the 700m AL MUFADAAL (AE) (W Hollick) was taken inwards to avoid the heels of AF KHATEERAH (AE) which was stopping quickly. This action caused JAP MUTHEER (AE) and YALMAA (AE) to be checked severely. Jockey W Hollick pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for two days (Thursday January 6, 2005 at Nad Al Sheba and Friday January 7, 2005 at Jebel Ali) and fined AED 750. On pulling up jockey D Hayse was dislodged when RS KERIM (AE) shied. He was transported to the local hospital for assessment where they ascertained an injury to the right foot. Jockey D Hayse was relieved of his remaining engagements. He was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again. Jockey G Hind reported that the bit on MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) pulled through the horse's mouth. DAYAN (AE) (S O'Gorman) returned with a cut to the upper lip.

When being mounted it was ascertained that BETSHOUF (AE) and TAHTHEER (AE) were equipped with the wrong saddles. To expedite proceedings Stewards directed that a substitution of riders to be made with D O'Donohoe to ride BETSHOUF (AE) and TAHTHEER (AE) to be ridden by D Mernagh. Subsequently trainer Mr R Simpson was found guilty to a charge under 9 (xvi) (b) with negligence in saddling those runners and fined the sum of AED 2000. SADDAD (AE) (G Hind), JAP BAHAAR (AE) (T O'Shea) and AF KANZ (AE) (W Cahill) were slow to begin. DIABLO (AE) (S Chin) raced extremely greenly in the early stages veering to the inside of the track. TRONASONIC (US) (S O'Gorman) was slow to begin. AL AZRAK (SE) (L Bester) was impeded when brushing the rail near the 1450m. General Report Race 2 C Avery replaced D Hayse on ELETRIC (IT). Race 3 W Cahill replaced R Moore on AF KANZ (AE). M Hussey replaced P Dobbs on HATHR (AE). C Taylor replaced D Hayse on RS BAYHAS (AE) Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. Sunday December 19, 2004. Race 5 First Gulf Bank National Day Cup. 1600m Stewards concluded the enquiry into apprentice M Hussey being dislodged from RED CRESCENT (SAF) near the 500m. After taking evidence from jockeys W Supple (MUGHARREB [USA]), R Moore (FESTIVE STYLE [SAF]) and D Mernagh (LANDSLIDE [IRE]) Stewards concluded that at that stage RED CRESCENT (SAF) which was tiring was being ridden hard by apprentice Hussey and clipped the heels of a horse or horses in front. This caused RED CRESCENT (SAF) to dip and dislodge apprentice Hussey. In considering this evidence Stewards found no rider at fault. Race 4 D Mernagh replaced P Dobbs on DIAMANT DE SINUHE (FR) C Taylor replaced D Hayse on SHARIF EL SABEK (IT) W Cahill replaced R Moore on HASNA DE FAUST (FR) Trainer Mr M Al Kurdi was fined AED 250 for failing to declare the visor on KERBEL LOTOIS (FR).
