Al ZAEEM (FR) then lay outwards taking the turn into the straight wide. ROMAN WARRIOR (US) (T Durcan) was impeded when VISSUDD (US) (W O'Connor) rolled in at the 275m. Jockey W O'Connor was cautioned with regards to using his whip forward of the saddle. SIMBAD (RU) lay inwards in the straight. A post race veterinary inspection of AL ZAEEM (FR) revealed the gelding was galloped on the off hind bulb of the heel.

Approaching the 1400m URANUS LOTOIS (FR) (G Birrer) shifted outwards quickly causing DAFFAQ (GB) to be restrained. DORMILLA (FR) (D Stamp) rolled outwards at the 700m and carried KERJAM (FR) (D Mernagh) out which buffeted with the hind quarters of PAUL SCHOLES (FR) (D O'Donohoe) thereby becoming unbalanced. In this incident URANUS LOTOIS (FR) had to be restrained. Jockey D O'Donohoe advised that PAUL SCHOLES (FR) was inclined to lay inwards throughout. Apprentice D Stamp was reminded of his obligation to afford fellow riders greater room in future and that he is expected to maintain a true line when his mounts begin to tire. VAN NISTELROOY (US) (T Durcan) bore outwards over the final 250m.
