At the 1000m EASTWELL STAR (US) (D Mernagh) shifted out onto MILLENIUM DU POUY (FR) (T O'Shea) causing that gelding to tighten URA VISION (US) (P Fessey) onto HOME BIRD (US) (R Moore) which had to be steadied. Passing the 400m URA VISION (US) was restrained of the heels of HOME BIRD (US) when that gelding shifted away from MILLENIUM DU POUY (FR).

VANASHING ACT (USA) (D Mernagh) jumped awkwardly bumping heavily into ELMONJED (USA) (W Supple). SOUTHERN PARTNER (USA) (S De Sousa) was slow into stride. MAMBRINO (USA) (W Hollick) jumped with the field and then refused to race shortly afterwards. In light of the poor record of MAMBRINO (USA) trainer Mr A Selvaratnam was advised that the horse must complete three satisfactory stalls tests before being entered to race. VANISHING ACT (USA) raced wide in the middle stages. Approaching the 1000m NANTUCKET (IRE) (J Moriarty) shifted inwards tightening SIGLO (ARG) (M Fenton) which had to be steadied. NANTUCKET (IRE) then continued to shift inwards causing DILLAGI (USA) (P Smullen) to be restrained. TARFAA BINT SWAIN (USA) (F Da Silva) which was following was also inconvenienced. On enquiry apprentice J Moriarty was found guilty of careless riding under ERA rule 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for two days (13th and 15th January 2005 at Nad Al Sheba).

GRANATO (GER) (J Moriarty) was slow into stride. Approaching the 1200m MYTHICAL JINKS (USA) (F Da Silva) was held tight and had to be steadied when racing to the inside of GRANATO (GER). MYTHICAL JINKS (USA) then commenced to over race until passing the 1000m. A post race veterinary inspection of MYTHICAL JINKS (USA) revealed the gelding to have a fracture to it's off fore sesamoid. Trainer Mr A Selvaratnam was advised that MYTHICAL JINKS (USA) would require a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to being entered to race again.
