MILLBAG (IRE) (J Murtagh) shifted out at the start bumping PRINCE CHARMING (GB) (P Dillon) onto SO WLL I (GB) (R Hills). SLIP DANCE (IRE) (M Hussey) pulled hard in the middle stages. At the 375m MILLBAG (IRE) rolled inwards crowding PRINCE CHARMING (GB). When attempting a marginal run near the 300m T-BIRD (SAF) (T O'Shea) brushed the hindquarters of the tiring HINTERLAND (SAF) (R Moore), became unbalanced and struck the running rail. SLEIPNER (BRZ) (R Cleary) injured it's off fore fetlock and was pulled up at the 300m. Trainer Mr A Selvaratnam later advised that SLEIPNER (BRZ) would be retired from racing.. Jockey J Murtagh was cautioned with regards to using his whip in a manner which bordered on excessive frequency. Jockey J Bekker (NED KELLY [SAF]) weighed in 1 kg over weight. Trainer Mr D Maroun was fined AED 1,000 under ERA 65 (iii) for adding gear after his rider had weighed out for NED KELLY (SAF).

SIR EDWIN LANDSEER (USA) (S Golam) refused to enter the stall and was withdrawn by order of the stewards at 8:11 pm. Trainer Mr C Wroe was advised that SIR EDWIN LANDSEER (USA) was placed on the starters list and must perform a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. SAFE STRUCTURE (SAF) (J Bekker) pulled hard in the early stages. At the 500m SAFE SRUCTURE (SAF) was taken out and bumped CEDARBERG (USA) (P Dillon). On enquiry JockeyJ Bekker was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Abu Dhabi on 5 February 2006, and Nad Al Sheba on 9 February 2006). In the straight CEDARBERG (USA) faltered when fracturing it's near shoulder with Jockey P Dillon dismounted from the horse. CEDERBERG (USA) was subsequently euthanized. JET EXPRESS (SAF) (S Randolph) shifted out passing the 75m causing SAFE SRUCTURE (SAF) to be restrained. Jockey S Randolph was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Abu Dhabi on 5 February 2006, and Nad Al Sheba on 9 February 2006).. THE CARBON UNIT (USA) (T O'Shea) veered outwards at the start bumping with IBN SHAQRAAN (KSA) (S Heffernan). At the 500m THE CARBON UNIT (USA) (T O'Shea) was carried outwards by DESERT ANGER (GB) ( R.Mullen) and this caused HAPPY DIAMOND (USA) (R Ffrench) to be restrained. Jockey R Moore (DESERT ANGER [GB]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Abu Dhabi on 5 February 2006, and Nad Al Sheba on 9 February 2006), and fined AED 2000. DESERT ANGER (GB) returned with an abrasion to its off flank. The Clerk of Scales reported that jockey K Shea (ORACLE WEST [SAF]) had initially weighed out with a non regulation body protector. An inquiry into this incident was opened and adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. Jockey K Shea was questioned regarding the use of his whip on ORACLE WEST (SAF) over the final 250m. This inquiry was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.
