EGYPTIAN (USA) (T O Shea) was withdrawn at 8:05pm when it was ascertained to be lame in the off fore. Trainer R Boursely was advised that a veterinary certificated of soundness would be required prior to entering the gelding to race again. TAHREEB (FR) (J Murtagh) dwelt when the start was effected losing considerable ground. On straightening CORRIOLANUS (GER) (R Moore) steadied when ENCINAS (GER) (W Mongil) shifted outwards. Jockey W Marwing reported that EXCALIBUR (IRE) hung inwards for the major part of the race and he was impeded behind the tiring BALDAQUIN (GB) (P Dillon) prior to straightening. Trainer J Poulton was questioned regarding the improved performance of LAND 'N STARS (GB) (J Egan). He advised that the gelding had been unsuited by the slow pace at its previous start over 2400m He was of the opinion that the fast early pace of today's race, coupled with natural improvement in the gelding's training had lead to the apparent improvement. Jockey J Egan [LAND 'N STARS (GB)] was fined AED 1000 under ERA Instruction 8 (h) for using his whip with his arm extended above shoulder height. EXCALIBUR (IRE) returned with cuts to his mouth. A post race veterinary inspection of BALDAQUIN (GB) revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind and off fore. Trainer R Boursely was advised that a veterinary certificated of soundness would be required prior to entering the gelding to race again General Report Race 1. Trainer Mr A Laird was fined AED 250 for failing to declare the tongue tie on AL MOUTAWAKEL (FR) Race 5. T Durcan (retained jockey) replaced R Mullen on NATIONAL CAPTAIN (SAF) following the withdrawal of COVER DRIVE (USA).
