HOWICK FALLS (USA) (T O'Shea) bounded in the air at the start losing ground. Approaching the 1000m SEVILLANO (GB) (T Durcan), which was racing fiercely, made contact with CONCEAL (GB) (P Dillon) on several occasions. PROTECTOR (SAF) (R Mullen) raced wide throughout. Near the 450m QUELEDEN CANDELA (ARG) (W Supple) had to be restrained when SO WILL I (GB) (R Hills) shifted out. Jockey W Supple advised that his filly was tiring badly at this stage and the shift of SO WILL I (GB) was of little significance. When blocked passing the 300m OBE GOLD (GB) (R Moore) was taken inwards crowding AT ONCE (GER) (P Smullen) with CLOD BER JUNIOR (BRZ) (W Smith) restraining from that mare's heels. Jockey R Moore was reprimanded for shifting in when insufficiently clear. Near the 1400m ATTENTIVE (IRE) (T Durcan) steadied behind ZAAJEL (IRE) (R Hills). CRISTOFORO (IRE) (L Dettori) was held tight on the inside of ATTENTIVE (IRE) near the 450m and was then carried inwards behind the tiring AMANDUS (USA) (W Supple) thereby making contact with FORTY HABLADOR (ARG) (G Hind). CRISTOFORO (IRE) was then impeded for a clear run. When questioned regarding the improved form of PUNCH PUNCH (BRZ) (M Almeida) Trainer Mr C Morgado advised that the colt had been racing first up for 8 months at its previous start and although fit on that occasion had benefited from that outing. He further advised that PUNCH PUNCH (BRZ) had trained particularly well in the past week.
