MBOSI (USA) (S Gorey) had to be steadied of the heels of DILLAGI (USA) (J Murtagh) when crowded by QIXL(NZ)(G Hind) near the 800m. In the final 150m MBOSI (USA) tended to lay inwards and approaching the 50m made contact with DILLAGI (USA) which inconvenienced Jockey J Murtagh in riding that gelding out to the finish. App S Gorey was shown the film of this incidence and advised to ensure that he gives runners on his inside greater room in future. MBOSI (USA) returned with a cut on his near fore pastern. A post race examination of SOTCH N' DRY (GB) (R Moore) revealed it to have evidence of a skin condition Trainer Mr. S Seemar was advised to produce a veterinary certificate before the gelding raced again.

Prior to entering the stalls OLD DORSET(USA) (S Heffernan)had his near fore plate re-set. FIRST VIEW (USA) (W Supple) and RUE MAZARINE (IRE) (J Panas) jumped awkwardly. FIRST VIEW (USA) then tended to over-race in the early and middle stages. Approaching the turn at the 1200m UHLAN (GB) (T O'Shea) and AL HASIM (FR) (P Aragoni) made contact on several occasions. Near the 450m OTRANTO (USA) (R Ffrench) shifted inwards and inconvenienced MAXIM(ARG)(P Dobbs). Passing the 400m, RUE MAZARINE (IRE) (J Panas) veered outwards bumping with OLD DORSET (USA) (S Heffernan). ANOTHER LEGEND (IRE) (G Birrer) returned with a cut on his near hind heel.

GO SPEED (FR) (R Ffrench) jumped awkwardly and lost ground. In the early and middle stages, SILVER MEDAL (USA) (D Smith) and TABREED (AUS) (R Cleary) both raced ungenerously. TABREED (AUS) then made the turn near the 1200m awkwardly having to be restrained and shifting outwards on to SILVER MEDAL (USA) which had to checked.
