GO SPEED (FR) (W Rafiq) commenced awkwardly and then raced greenly throughout. AL SAHIM AL ASWAD (USA) shifted in at the start bumping SECOND NATURE (USA) (C Kerton), with that mare then shifting inwards and inconveniencing HAFIF (IRE) (J Panas). SHIHAB (IND) (N Rodrigues) was fractious in the gates and jumped awkwardly. Passing the 1100m, GO SPEED (FR) shifted inwards causing SEPT ETOILES (IRE) (C Arnold) to be steadied. When racing keenly near the 1000m, SHIHAB (IND) shifted outwards bumping with HAMIMAQ (GB) (D Donohoe). Passing the 300m, GALFAR (GB) (D Badel) lay inwards and bumped PRIDE OF BAGHDAD (USA) (W Supple) which in turn shifted inwards bumping BELPASSO (IRE) D Hayse). When questioned regarding his riding of SEPT ETOILES (IRE) in the early stages jockey C Arnold stated that after commencing awkwardly and losing ground he had elected to take SEPT ETOILES (IRE) wide on the track as he believed the gelding would appreciate racing there away from the kick back. In considering this incident, Stewards were of the opinion that jockey C Arnold had ridden a poorly judged race in the early stages and advised that he was expected to show greater judgment in future races. Jockey David Badel (GALFAR [GB}) was reprimanded for undoing his chin strap prior to dismounting.

LITIGADO (ARG) (A Deau) commenced awkwardly, veering outwards and bumping MARHOON (USA) (R Cleary) with that gelding then being steadied and losing ground. Approaching the 1000m, FIGHTING TOM CAT (USA) (D Badel) shifted inwards causing OPEN VERSE (USA) (J Panas) to be restrained and make contact with JAFFAL (USA) (R Ffrench). Jockey D Badel (FIGHTING TOM CAT [USA]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 1 day (Abu Dhabi November 19, 2006). When questioned regarding the performance of MANRIQUE (USA), trainer Mr D Watson stated that he was disappointed in the performance and attributed this to the fast early pace. He further advised that he would give consideration to dropping MANRIQUE (USA) back in distance as he believed it would suit the gelding better at this stage of his preparation. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
