SALAAM DUBAI (AUS) (R Mullen) veered outwards on jumping bumping SAN SALVADOR (USA) (R Ffrench) onto NANTUCKET (IRE) (W Smith) with that tgelding then making contact with the hind quarters of CONCEAL (GB) (M Dwyer). Shortly after the start, RAGING CREEK (USA) (R Cleary) was impeded for room between CONCEAL (GB) and NATIONAL ICON (SAF) (W Supple). Approaching the 600m AL NITAK (SAF) fractured its off fore, fell and dislodged Jockey D O'Donohoe. Passing the 300m CONCEAL (GB) shifted inwards carrying SALAAM DUBAI (AUS) in onto NATIONAL ICON (SAF) with those two geldings bumping heavily. NATIONAL ICON (SAF) was then steadied from the heels of DOCTOR HILARY (GB) (T Durcan) when that gelding had commenced to hang outwards. On enquiry Jockey M Dwyer (CONCEAL [GB]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 1 day (Abu Dhabi December 24, 2006). Following the running of this race jockey D O'Donohoe was transported to hospital for further treatment.

DUBAI VISION (FR) (R Roberts) commenced awkwardly. Approaching the 1700m ZVAKARE (ZIM) (J Panas) shifted inwards making contact with MARHOON (USA) (R Cleary). Shortly after this, DARK POINT (GB) (T Durcan) shifted inwards and bumped ZVAKARE (ZIM) onto MARHOON (USA) which was then steadied. VANISHING ACT (USA) (A Ajtebi) and CLASSICIST (USA) (R Smith) raced tightly in the early stages. Approaching the 700m DUBAI VISION (FR) was inconvenienced behind the tiring CONNOTATION (USA) (W Smith). PACIFIC (USA) (D Hayse) raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of CONNOTATION (USA), jockey W Smith stated that the filly felt uncomfortable in her action over the final 600m. A post race veterinary examination of CONNOTATION (USA) (W Smith) revealed no abnormalities. On return to the stable a further veterinary examination was conducted and no abnormalities were found.
