MAGIC MASTER (SAF) (T Durcan) was difficult to load. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that MAGIC MASTER (SAF) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. Approaching the 400m, CROONER (IRE) (W Supple) shifted outwards momentarily impeding MACHYNLETH (GB) (W Smith). BOTANICAL (USA) (T O'Shea) shifted in bumping MAGIC MASTER (SAF) at the start. YOROKOBI (BRZ) (M Cardoso) stumbled on jumping and then shortly afterwards was tightened for room. Passing the 400m, PADRAO LIMA (BRZ) (J Egan) shifted inwards inconveniencing PAKHOES (IRE) (D Hayse). Approaching the 200m, HAY LUZ DELSOL (BRZ) (A Domingos) which had a tendency to shift ground, shifted outwards causing PAKHOES (IRE) to be steadied. When questioned regarding the performance of PRINCE TAMINO (GB), jockey K McEvoy was of the opinion that the gelding did not appreciate racing on the dirt. A post race veterinary examination of YOROKOBI (BRZ) revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer Mr H Brown stated that the colt was new to his stable and had been disappointing in training in the lead up to the race. He further stated that it was his intention to increase the distance of the colt's next race.

At the same time PENTECOST (GB) (M Dwyer) which was following, commenced to over race and impeded MONEY BAGS (SAF) (W Marwing). SUBPOENA (GB) (R Ffrench) and KESTREL CROSS (IRE) (J Murtagh) raced wide throughout. SUBPOENA (GB) raced keenly in the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination of PENTECOST (GB) (M Dwyer) revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey M Dwyer was of the opinion that the early racing manner of PENTECOST (GB) had contributed to the disappointing performance. SIR GERARD (GB) (K McEvoy) returned with a cut to its left fore fetlock. Following the running of this race Jockey W Marwing became indisposed and was relieved of his remaining riding engagements.

A post race veterinary examination of STRIKE UP THE BAND (GB) (A Nicholls) revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of STRIKE UP THE BAND (GB), Jockey A Nicholls was of the opinion that the colt did not appreciate racing on the dirt. When questioned regarding the improved performance of SALAAM DUBAI (AUS) (M Kinane), Trainer Mr A Selvaratnam advised that after the gelding's previous disappointing run he had altered the training regime of SALAAM DUBAI (AUS) in an effort to freshen the gelding, which he felt was the reason behind today's improved run. Approaching the 2200m, MUTASALLIL (USA) (R Hills) shifted inwards causing BOO (GB) (R Ffrench) to be tightened for room and be steadied. Jockey R Hills (MUTASALLIL [USA]) was shown a film of this incident and advised that he must give runners on his inside more room in future. BONECRUSHER (GB) (W Smith) which was racing to the inside of BOO (GB) (R Ffrench) was inconvenienced in this incident. Making the turn out of the straight the first time, LEITMOTIV (IRE) was crowded for room and lost its racing position. SUNDAY SYMPHPONY (GB) (R Moore) raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m, the tiring OAKFAST (BRZ) (M Kinane) rolled inwards causing NEPOTISTA (BRZ) (A Domingos) to shift inwards and tighten MUTAFANEN (GB) (M Dwyer) which had to be restrained. Jockey C Lemaire reported that the saddle on PEINTRE BLEU (FR) slipped forwards at the 800m which then placed him at a disadvantage for the reminder of the race. LEITMOTIV (IRE) lay inwards near the 400m and impeded GO FOR GOLD (IRE) (T O'Shea). LEITMOTIV (IRE) then continued to lay inwards for the remainder of the race.

HARTSHEAD (GB) (J Muratgh) reared on jumping. Approaching the 400m, CHECKIT (IRE) (G Hind) began to tire and shifted ground tightening REVE LUNAIRE (USA) (T Durcan) onto ALL IVORY (GB) (K McEvoy) which then made contact with the hind quarters of BERLIOZ (IND) (R Mullen). PECOIQUEN (CHI) (W Supple) which was following was inconvenienced in this incident and shifted outwards bumping KINGS POINT (IRE) (P Smullen) onto EDEN ROCK (IRE) (M Kinane). HARTSHEAD (GB) (J Murtagh) was also impeded in this incident. Near the 375m, EMIRATES GOLD (IRE) (T O'Shea) lay inwards and crowded ALPACCO (IRE) (R Moore) with that gelding being restrained. On enquiry, it was established that as ALPACCO (IRE) improved to the inside of EMIRATES GOLD (IRE), that colt had shifted in quickly when Jockey T O'Shea had attempted to use the whip. A post race veterinary examination of HINTERLAND (IRE) (L Dettori) and HARTSHEAD (GB) revealed no abnormalities.
