Upon leaving the paddock TROPICAL STAR (IRE) (R Ffrench) reared over striking its head heavily on the ground. TROPICAL STAR (IRE) was then transported to the Dubai Equine Hospital where the gelding was later euthanized. TROPICAL STAR (IRE) was officially withdrawn by order of stewards at 8:19pm. This incident delayed the start of the race by 8 minutes. ALPACCO (IRE) (K Shea) shifted in at the start and made contact with LOOKING GOOD (ARG) (W Smith). Jockey K Shea reported that ALPACCO (IRE) was never comfortable racing on the dirt at any stage and had a tendency to hang inwards in the straight. PAROLE BOARD (USA) (T Durcan) returned with a cut to its left hind.

Jockey A Domingos (NEPOTISTA [BRZ]) dropped his whip near the 200m. CORRIOLANUS (GER) (T Durcan) lost its left fore glue-on shoe in running.
