Shortly after the start, when crossed by MUTHAABER (GB) (G Birrer), AL NAB'A (AE) (D O'Donohoe) threw its head in the air and then commenced to race ungenerously. AS SAHAAB (AE) raced wide from the 800m and lay outwards making the turn into the straight. A post race veterinary examination of AS SAHAAB (AE) revealed no abnormalities.

Approaching the 400m, TRI ANOTHER CAT (USA) commenced to shift inwards and when struck with the whip shifted in onto FORCE NINE (USA) (W Supple) causing that gelding to be steadied. Jockey M Dwyer (TRI ANOTHER CAT [USA]) was fined AED 750 for breaching ERA Instruction 8 (ii) (h) in that he used his whip with his arm extended above shoulder height. LUCKY JULES (USA) (W Smith) returned with a cut to its left hind.

SAMA DUBAI (AUS) (K Latham) jumped awkwardly. MANU (USA) (R Ffrench) shifted out at the start and bumped GOLD HORIZONS (IRE) (P Devlin). Approaching the 1000m MALAYEEN (AUS) shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of DR DANG (AUS) (C Kerton) causing that gelding to shift in and tighten MISTER DICKENS (USA) (G Birrer) which had to be restrained and lose ground. MANRIQUE (USA) (D O'Donohoe) and MAWWAL (GB) (A Ajtebi) which were following were inconvenienced in this incident. On enquiry, Jockey R Mullen (MALAYEEN [AUS]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 1 day (3rd January, 2008 at Nad Al Sheba). MALAYEEN (AUS) commenced to hang outwards passing the 800m with the saddle on that horse shifting, this placed Jockey R Mullen in some difficulty. MALAYEEN (AUS) then continued to hang outwards and carried RAGAD (GB) (M Dwyer) wide on the track. MR DICKENS (USA) returned with a cut to its left fore leg. Trainer Mr A Manuel was advised that MR DICKENS (USA) would require a veterinary certificate prior to being entered to ace again.
