SAFETY INVESTMENTS (AUS) (M Kinane) shifted in at the start and crowded AKONA MATATA (USA) (D O'Donohoe). SAFETY INVESTMENTS (AUS) then raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Making the turn into the straight, ALMARAM (USA) (J Murtagh) shifted outwards and then shortly afterwards near the 500m rolled inwards and crowded DRIFT ICE (SAF) (K Shea). DRIFT ICE (SAF) was then taken outwards off the heels of ALMARAM (USA) near the 350m to obtain a clear run. SAFETY INVESTMENTS (AUS) commenced to shift inwards passing the 250m. On pulling up AKONA MATATA (USA) injured its left fore fetlock. AKONA MATATA (USA) was then attended to by the on-course veterinarian and was transported to the Dubai Equine Hospital for further assessment. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to AKONA MATATA (USA) being permitted to race again.

YASOODD (GB) (J Murtagh) was fractious in the paddock. ARQAAM (GB) (M Dwyer) was slow to begin. Jockey D Holland reported that HALICARNASSUS (IRE) hung inwards in running. Jockey D Holland (HALICARNASSUS [IRE]) was warned in relation to using his whip with his arm extended above shoulder height. Jockey R Hills reported that GREAT PLAINS (GB) had raced ungenerously and had lost its action in the straight and as such elected to ease the horse down over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of GREAT PLAINS (GB) revealed no abnormalities.

On arrival at the starting gates, PALM COURT (GB) (A Ajtebi) was inspected by the on-course veterinarian and was found to be lame in the left fore, as such PALM COURT (GB) (A Ajtebi) was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 9:58pm. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the colt being permitted to enter to race again. ABLAAN (USA) (P Devlin) jumped awkwardly and shifted inwards making contact with the hind quarters of ETCHED (USA) (L Dettori). AQUINO (URU) (M Kinane) was fractious in the gates, jumped awkwardly and lost its position. Passing the 1050m NEW JERSEY (IRE) (M Dwyer) had to be steadied off the heels of ETCHED (USA) on several occasions. ABLAAN (USA) had a tendency to race keenly in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of AQUINO (URU), Jockey M Kinane stated that the colt had failed to settle in running and had not travelled comfortably at any stage. Jockey W Smith reported that MUTABAYEN (USA), upon pulling up, had felt sore in front. A post race veterinary examination of MUTABAYEN (USA) revealed no abnormalities.
