ZAKOCITY (USA) (R Albarado) was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BARCOLA (USA) (G Gomez) shifted inwards and carried ROSBERG (USA) (T O'Shea) in onto ELUSIVE WARNING (USA) (K McEvoy) which crowded JET EXPRESS (SAF) (R Ffrench) for room causing that gelding to bump heavily with BAHARAH (USA) (J Spencer) with that filly having to be checked and lose ground. On enquiry, Jockey G Gomez (BARCOLA [USA]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 1 day (April 10, 2008) and fined USD 2000. Approaching the 1400m, DIAMOND STRIPES (USA) (E Prado) veered inwards quickly bumping heavily with BRAVE TIN SOLDIER (USA) (K Shea) which then shifted inwards causing HALKIN (USA) (W Smith) which was following to clip heels and blunder. On enquiry, the stewards were satisfied that the incident was attributed to the racing manner of DIAMOND STRIPES (USA) and as such no action was taken against Jockey E Prado. DON RENATO (CHI) (W Ramos) shifted outwards over the concluding stages and made contact with ZAKOCITY (USA). A post race veterinary examination of BAHARAH (USA) revealed no abnormalities. Jockey E Prado (DIAMOND STRIPES [USA]) was waned in relation to using his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle.

Following the running of this race, Jockey M Kinane rider of the 3rd placed, STAR CROWNED (USA) lodged an objection against the 2nd placed, IDIOT PROOF (USA) (D Flores) alleging interference from shortly after the start until the 200m. Stewards considered the objection, whilst agreeing that STAR CROWNED (USA) was carried inwards by IDIOT PROOF (USA) at various stages between the 800m and 250m they were not of the opinion that STAR CROWNED (USA) would have beaten IDIOT PROOF (USA) had this interference not occurred and as such dismissed the objection. DIABOLICAL (USA) (L Dettori) jumped awkwardly and shifted inwards bumping MUTAMARRES (GB) (R Hills) at the start. SARISSA (BRZ) (C Lemaire) commenced awkwardly. Approaching the 800m, IDIOT PROOF (USA) commenced to lay inwards and carried STAR CROWNED (USA) in for a short period. Passing the 600m, IDIOT PROOF (USA) continued to lay inwards and carried STAR CROWNED (USA) in until near the 250m. Jockey D Flores (IDIOT PROOF [USA]) was advised that he must make a greater effort to straighten his mount when they shift ground in future.
